    Damselflies are related to dragonflies.  They go through a series of transformations before finally becoming an adult.  Damselflies spend the first year or so of their lives in the water as nymphs.  The nymph eventually climbs out of the water and undergoes a dozen molts before transforming into the winged adult damselfly.
    Similarly, becoming a Christian is not a once in a lifetime act.  Like the damselfly, being a Christian is a life-long journey of multiple transformations as we become more and more Christ-like.
