Divine Inspiration Photos feature wildlife and nature photographs which glorify God and his beautiful creations.  Each framed photo includes a card with a scripture and a description of what the subject can teach us about God and how He wants us to live our lives.

The card for this photo reads:

Blue Jay

A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold.

Proverbs 22:1 NIV

Blue jays have a bad reputation.  They are considered by many to be bullies – accused of chasing away other birds from bird feeders and invading other birds’ nests to feed on baby birds or eggs.  But I have never seen blue jays act this way.  Instead, they are the protectors of the neighborhood.  When a hawk or other predator comes near, blue jays from far and wide join together to loudly warn the other birds and then chase away the predator.

Our good name is a combination of our reputation and our character.  Reputation is what others think of us.  Character describes who we really are.  As believers we are to be imitators of God.  Everything we do should reflect God’s character.  When people look at what we do and how we live, they should be able to see what God is truly like.
